Today I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 6 of the Virtual Blog Tour of author Michelle Casto whose book The Destiny Discovery: Find Your Soul’s Path to Success launches on Amazon on Tuesday January 17, 2012.

Today, I'd like to share with you a recent interview I had with Michelle when I got to ask her some questions on the subject of What are the keys to the door of destiny? I hope you enjoy it.

Lynnet McKenzie: What are the keys to opening the door of destiny?
Michelle Casto: There are 2 keys to unlock the door of Destiny: Soul Journey and Soul Purpose.
Each impacts each other. The moment you decide to be your True Self, and pursue your Purpose for being alive, is the moment you will be set on the path of authentic happiness. The hero's journey is what we are all on, and it is where we either consciously or unconsciously experience adversity, master mental monsters, meet our appointed mentors, and learn the lessons of our Soul. You then begin to honor yourself and the path that is meant for you and this leads to joy and happiness, the kind that does not come from superficial living.
During this journey, we will seek to raise our consciousness and become personally transformed by facing the changes, challenges and choice points along our path. It is imperative to know that we already possess these two keys and can use them at any time, no matter how bleak our outlook may be. In my book, The Destiny Discovery, the book is divided into two parts, the Soul's Journey and Soul's Purpose, and so when you read the book, it is if I am walking walk with you step by step during your discovery process.
Lynnet McKenzie: How do you see our Soul purpose fitting with our careers?
Michelle Casto: Let’s look at some of the differences between a job, a career and your life’s work.
A job is something you get paid to do and money is the primary motivation. It is easy to perform because there is not much challenge, and you will eventually find other work to do. It may or may not fully engage you. Your Soul may or may not be present.
A career is something you get paid to do that is viewed as a profession (status or identity is the motivation). It may provide more challenge, but after a while, you may get burned out, and choose to stop doing it. It may or may not fully engage you. Again, your Soul may or may not be present.
Your life’s work or Purpose is something you do whether you get paid for it or not. Your Soul’s need for expression is the motivation. There is plenty of challenge and personal meaning. You will always want to do it. It definitely fully engages you and your Soul is present.
Remember that a job can get you started toward your greater Purpose. In fact, jobs provide the very important element of exposure to different kinds of industries allowing you to discover what you do or do not want. Take for example, a woman who started out working in a department store as a clerk who then moved into a management position and finally created her life’s work as an independent contractor who trains others in customer service skills. The challenge is not to get stuck at one level, unless your heart is in it of course.
Lynnet McKenzie: Once we discover our destiny, how do you recommend getting past the resistance to living it?
Michelle Casto: Resistance is what stands between the life you live and the unlived life within you. When I experienced the greatest resistance was when I made the biggest breakthrough in my life and career. On a deep level, I knew something was needing to change in my life, something big like a relationship break-up, and a move of residence, but I did not want to think about leaving my comfort zone of living on the island where I very much enjoyed a quiet, simple life where I could still run my virtual business.
When something like this happens in your life, recognize that it is a very important choice-point. What you choose to do (or not do) has far reaching effects; so be careful, because if you let resistance rule you instead of your “greatness,” you may miss out on the life experiences that you are meant to have.
For example, when I made the change, I met and married the man of my dreams, attracted new soul-mated friends and my business took off. I know in my heart none of that would have occurred, had I resisted what I knew was true for me—even though it was a lot of work—I went through a lot of release and had to pack and unpack my stuff three times in one year, until I settled in with a wonderful new home with my hunky buns.
Once I faced the fear, felt my way through it, and accepted my next step, all those physical symptoms subsided, and a new sense of Self and a burst of energy became activated.
When you are shifting through a major transition (divorce, career change, move, financial challenge, living your PURPOSE), it is common to be in a state of negative emotional and mental overload that makes it difficult to think clearly and make wise decisions. However, the stress that you are experiencing is the perfect prescription to evolve your soul—if you choose to see the blessing in the chaos (by the way, chaos, change and challenge are what I know to be “stepping stones to Destiny.”)
You can learn new skills that are built upon a spiritual foundation and learn to access the wisdom of your own soul which will empower you to recreate your reality base on what you really desire.
